Baghdad - INA

Ministry of Communications confirmed that the shock operation (Alsadma) will continue to stop the smuggling of Internet capacity, while indicating that next year will witness a significant shift in Internet service in Iraq.

The Director General of the Communications and Informatics Department in the ministry, Basem Al-Asadi, said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), today, Sunday: "The shock operation will continue to stop the smuggling of the Internet, and that the last operation took place a few days ago in the Bashiqa district of Nineveh Governorate. Other specific targets in several regions of Iraq will be addressed at the appropriate time determined by the shock operation. "

He added that "the outrageous profits made by the smugglers and the influential spoilers who support them were among the most important reasons for the continuation of smuggling," stressing that "smuggling will not be finally eliminated except upon completion of the optical access gates currently being implemented by Nokia International, which will be completed within the next few months."

He pointed out that "next year will witness an important shift in Internet service in Iraq, as a shift will be initiated from the method of preparing the Internet through (Wi-Fi) to the method of providing service for the Internet by delivering a rite of optical cable to every home.
