Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein has sent a message to his European counterparts urging them to reject the decision of the European Union Commission to include Iraq in the list of high-risk countries.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed al-Sahaf said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) today, Wednesday, that "Minister Fouad Hussein has sent a message to his European counterparts urging them to reject the decision of the European Union Commission to include Iraq in the list of high-risk countries regarding money laundering and financing Terrorism. "
Al-Sahaf added that "the Foreign Minister assured his counterparts in the message he sent to them that Iraq has implemented over the years laws and important measures aimed at combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and mitigating the risks associated with it."
The FATF report indicated that the AML / CFT preventive measures in Iraq are strong, and well established.
