Minister of Water Resources Mehdi Rashid Al-Hamdani revealed a forthcoming meeting with the Turkish side to discuss the implications of the IIisu Dam on Iraq.
Al-Hamdani said to the Iraqi News Agency (INA) today, Thursday, that "the presence of the IIisu Dam is a big problem for Iraq, but it will not show its direct impact during the next few period because there is sufficient water storage."
He added, "There is an upcoming meeting with Turkish officials for the purpose of agreeing the operating plan and water releases for Iraq."
Concerning the Mosul Dam, Al-Hamdani stressed that the dam has problems with the geological layers and these are not new but rather diagnosed since the sixties of the last century, indicating that the dam site was based on a full study, as it is the largest water reservoir for agriculture.
