Minister of Culture Abdul Amir Al-Hamdani announced the preparation of a file to include dozens of archaeological sites on the World Heritage List.
Al-Hamdani said in a statement to Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The ancient city of Nafr in Diwaniyah, and the city of Nimrud, the Assyrian capital in Nineveh are within the file, which the Ministry of Culture is preparing to include archeological sites on the World Heritage List,"
He added that among the sites in the file are the Islamic city of Wasit and the Ancient Tigris Beach between Bab Al-Muadham and the eastern gate including Al-Rashid Street and Al-Mutanabi Street, as well as the old Hajj Road linking Kufa and the Holy Land of Mecca, which is a common file with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
