Iraq signs a contract with the United Nations to support the implementation of the general census

    Iraq signed today, Tuesday, with the United Nations Human Settlements Program a joint cooperation contract to support the implementation of the general population and housing census to be implemented in the last third of the year 2020.

    The media office of the Ministry of Planning stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the head of the Central Statistical Organization, Dr. Deyaa Awad Kazim, signed the contract as a representative of the Iraqi side, while Dr. Irfan Ali, the regional director of (UN- HABITAT), signed it.

    The statement added that "Minister of Planning Nuri al-Dulaimi confirmed in a speech during his signing ceremonies the unification of the ministry for all national and international efforts towards implementing the census in accordance with the plan prepared for him," pointing out "the importance of this contract, which will provide the Central Bureau of Statistics with high-resolution satellite images of all private work areas."

    The general census of population and establishments for urban and rural areas, the design of a digital geographic platform for the census and the digital, statistical and geographical statistical atlas of the census.

    Al-Dulaimi praised the "efforts made by the United Nations programs in Iraq to achieve the goals of his vision in sustainable development 2030", noting that "what these efforts resulted in recently in launching a special platform to follow up on reconstruction projects to address and settle informal housing in Iraq."
