Al-Halbousi: Iraq is working to reduce tension

    Mohamed Al-Halbousi received a phone call from Canadian Foreign Minister Francois Philippe.

    According to the statement of the media office of the Speaker of Parliament who received during the call, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, issues of common concern, developments in the security situation in Iraq, and its implications for the region.

    The Speaker of Parliament assured Iraq’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Canada to achieve common interests in all fields, stressing the importance of respecting Iraqi sovereignty, preserving stability in Iraq and the region, and working to reduce tension.

    For his part, the Canadian Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for the views of the President of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, reiterating his country's keenness to cooperate and commit to the peace, stability and prosperity of Iraq, stressing the continued partnership with the Iraqi people to achieve these goals.
