Council of the Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights – IHCHR decided to suspend all aspects of the celebration of International Human Rights Day, in mourning for the lives of the martyrs of the demonstrations in Iraq.
"Given the critical conditions that our Iraqi people are going through during the past two months and the continuation of peaceful demonstrations taking place in the capital Baghdad and a number of governorates along with the accompanying developments and unfortunate events that caused martyrdom and injury to a number of Peaceful demonstrators, security forces and the consequent gross violations of constitutional rights and freedoms, the Council decided to suspend the manifestations of celebration of the International Day for Human Rights,” included a statement by IHCHR.
He added that the Council unanimously decided that because the Day will be on the 10th of December, and to highlight the UNHCR logo in black during mourn on the lives of the martyrs.
