Pope Francis appealed to all Iraqis to pursue dialogue and reconciliation in search of solutions, urging the government to listen to the demonstrators.
The Pope said in remarks quoted Vatican News: While expressing condolences to the victims and close to their families and the wounded, I call on the Iraqi government to listen to the cry of people who demand a dignified and peaceful life.He continued: I urge all Iraqis, along with the international community, to continue the path of dialogue and reconciliation, and search for appropriate solutions to the challenges and problems of the country.
He stressed that his prayers continue until this tormented people find peace and stability after many years of war and violence.
