The funeral of Tunisian President Beji Kayed Sibsi began Saturday at a state funeral attended by world leaders amid tight security.
The Tunisian presidency announced on Thursday, the death of Sabasi at the age of 92 years, after he helped lead the democratic transition in the country after the protests in 2011.
The funeral was held at the Carthage Palace in the presence of senior officials from several countries, including interim Algerian President Abdelkader Ben Saleh, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and French President Emmanuel Macaron, as well as senior officials from several Arab, European and African countries.
