New large-scale security operation launched in Diyala, JOC reports

    The Joint Operations Command announced today, Wednesday, the launch of a large-scale security operation to hunt down ISIS terrorist remnants in Diyala province.
    The Deputy Chief of Joint Operations, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "At 600 o'clock of this day, the Diyala Operations Command, in high coordination with the commands of the first and second axis in Peshmerga forces, began carrying out search and inspection operations along the separating borders with the Kurdistan Region on the outskirts of Khanaqin and Kifri districts, and on both banks of Diyala River".
    Al-Shammari added, "A force from the Counter-Terrorism Service, in partnership with special forces from KRG Guard, has started carrying out joint operations in areas of common security interest, with air support from the air force, army aviation and the international coalition."
    He pointed out that "This security operation comes within the framework of coordination and joint action, which is supervised by the Joint Operations Command to search areas of joint security interest and pursue ISIS terrorist gangs’ members."
    Earlier, the spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, announced, that measures were taken to enhance security in areas exposed to attempts of attacks by the remnants of ISIS terrorist gangs.
