The Kurdistan delegation: Our meetings are continuing with Allawi regarding his cabinet

    Today, Saturday, the Kurdistan delegation confirmed the continuation of its meetings with Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi to reach understandings regarding his cabinet.

    The deputy of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Nasser Harki, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Kurdish delegation is still in Baghdad, and continues in its meetings with the Prime Minister-designate to reach understandings on the mechanism for choosing the cabinet," noting that "the Kurdish delegation does not object to The names, which will be chosen in the cabinet, but rather on the mechanism used.”

    He added that "the delegation, during its meeting with the Prime Minister-designate, demanded access to the mechanism for selecting names, but Allawi insisted that this issue is determined and chosen by him away from the political blocs.

    For his part, Kurdish negotiator Jassem Al-Jaf said: "The Kurdish blocs want a strong government, and are able to handle all matters," noting that "the Kurdistan Region is not a party looking for positions but rather has constitutional benefits and has problems."

    Al-Jaf pointed out that "the region's agenda is the same as the agenda of all of Iraq, and that the stability of Baghdad means the stability of Erbil," noting that "there are many security problems with regard to some provinces bordering Kurdistan, and they were discussed with the Prime Minister-designate."The bloc of the Kurdistan Islamic Group had revealed earlier the most prominent results of the Kurdish delegation's talks with Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi.

    Member of the negotiating delegation, member of the bloc, Salim Shushki, said in a statement to Iraqi News Agency (INA): The delegation asked Allawi to look at the Kurdistan region as a people and not as a political party, and not to differentiate between the Kurds and the rest of the political parties, noting that Allawi confirmed that the Kurdish candidates for the government They will be determined according to the mechanisms used in other governorates.
