Iraq is looking to encourage investment and urge international companies to work in various sectors. The Iraqi delegation headed by President Barham Salih, in the Davos Economic Forum, hopes to reflect a clear and real picture of the internal situation of the country in order to attract investors.

Participants in the forum discussed several topics, including how to confront the crisis that is ravaging the global economy without causing negative impacts on the environment.

In his speech on the sidelines of the Davos Forum, President of the Republic Dr. Barham Salih said: "We need to strengthen our private sector that is still emerging, and I look forward to those gathered here today to play their part by bringing in foreign investment and skills to Iraq."

He added: "We understand that we have a crucial role in making this a reality. We need to become a country where Iraqis and foreigners have the confidence to invest in the long term, and where the private sector feels empowered and as such, we must create the legal and regulatory foundations to protect investors and liberalize markets."
