Baghdad -INA
The first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hassan Al-Kaabi, confirmed today, Tuesday, that Iraq is looking to open up to various countries of the world.
Al-Kaabi said, according to a statement of his media office received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The House of Representatives is very keen on documenting, strengthening and developing Iraq’s relations with the countries participating in the Davos meeting and taking advantage of its economic, commercial and technological capabilities to rebuild Iraq, especially since the country is looking to open up to various countries of the world. But the American role represents a departure from the international consensus to preserve the sovereignty, independence and stability of Iraq, which requires its firm response, "indicating that the boycott of American officials represents the simplest political and diplomatic response to them.
Al-Kaabi called on "Iraqi officials not to meet US administration officials at the Davos Forum," noting that "this position represents a clear political response that meets with public anger over American violations of Iraqi sovereignty and security and failure to take this claim will represent an unacceptable disregard for the blood of the martyrs."
