Member of the House of Representatives for the Al-Fateh Alliance MP Ahmad Al-Kinani confirmed that there was no final consensus on the name of the prime minister's candidate.

Al-Kanani said in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency: The meetings between the President of the Republic and the political blocs did not stop, but they did not result in the selection of any candidate permanently until now.

Al-Kinani indicated that choosing the name of the candidate must arrive in an official letter from the President of the Republic to the House of Representatives for a vote. He added that there is a consensus among some blocs to nominate a specific name, but it is difficult to pass it without the approval of the street opinion and the popular movement.

Al-Kanani stressed that the new prime minister must be independent and enjoy the characteristics of efficiency, integrity and ability to manage the state in a way that convinces the street and public opinion. Parliament Speaker Mohamed Al-Halbousi had addressed the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, by appointing a candidate for prime minister within 15 days.
