FM and Le Drian discuss several issues specially the Turkish military operation in northern Syria

    Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim received French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian. The two sides discussed, according to a Foreign Ministry statement received by to upgrade bilateral relations in various fields, and activate the document of strategic understanding of bilateral relations, and ways to enhance consultation and coordination between Baghdad and Paris.

    Al-Hakim stressed, Iraq is keen to upgrade the distinguished level of relations with France, and look forward to exploring new prospects for cooperation, especially in the field of economy.

    The two sides also discussed, according to the statement, the importance of the entry of major investment companies, and contribute to the reconstruction of infrastructure, stressing that the government is concerned to overcome all the difficulties that stand in front of the entry of French companies. Talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and strengthening security on the borders between Iraq and Syria, to prevent terrorists from infiltrating into Iraqi territory, he said.

    He pointed out that the two sides discussed facilitating the granting of entry permits to Iraqis wishing to visit France, whether they are businessmen or tourists.
