Salih: Developing friendly relations with Russia is important

President Barham Salih received Maksim Maksimmov, the Russian Federation's Ambassador to Iraq, in Baghdad.  

During the meeting, the President and Ambassador Maksimov discussed regional political and security issues.

Both have emphasized the need to enhance the friendly and cooperative Iraqi relationship with Russia so as to serve common interests.

The President wished Ambassador Maksimov success in all of his work.  

Ambassador Maksimov, in turn, noted and emphasized the depth of the historical relations between Russia and Iraq, and the interest of his government in improving these relations in areas of mutual cooperation.
