President of the Republic Dr. Barham Salih on Sunday discussed with the Iranian ambassador to Iraq Erj Masjedi the latest political developments in the regional arena, stressing the need to reduce tension in the region and enhance regional security and peace.

The President of the Republic received at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi, his office said in a statement.
