PM to Al – Azhar Grand Imam: Iraq moves on despite all difficulties

PM Adil Abdul-Mahdi assured that Iraq is moving on the right path; in spite of all facing difficulties; that it has over-powered the terrorist Isis bandits; the religious authority (Marjiya) having a great role in preserving national unity and civil peace. In his meeting with Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb; Grand Imam of Al – Azhar (Egypt); PM Abdul-Mahdi praised the spirit of moderation expressed by distinguished religious scholars of various denominations. He also stressed that the Iraqi government is working on consolidating the unity of the Iraqi people, building relations with all Arab and neighboring countries, fighting poverty, ignorance and underdevelopment, and achieving the economic advancement and reconstruction all Iraqis aspire to. 

Sheikh El-Tayeb expressed his wish to visit Iraq and Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf city, his pleasure at the development of Iraq and the victory over terrorism; reassuring that stronger ties call for unifying our countries and peoples, overcoming all differences to make progress for the benefit of all Muslims and humanity.
