IHCHR: Details announcement of the Ferry Sinking in Mosul

    INA - BAGHDAD

    Iraqi High Commission of Human Rights – IHCHR announced on Friday the details and reasons behind the ferry sinking in Mosul.

    The member of the IHCHR Ali al-Bayati stated the following details:

    The reason behind the incident:

    The crossing deck is very old returns back to the late 70s and is used to carry people from the left bank to the Island.

    The ferry is made in Iraq and of iron that was over consumed.

    The ferry capacity is 75 people whereas the number at the incident time was around 200, according to the ticketing report.

    The ferry moves by ropes and circuits from the other bank of the river.

    The details of the incident:

    The latest number of victims is 92, including 18 children and 62 women.

     The saved ones are only 33 where the missing is around 56.

    Also, he said that the island has only one emergency boat and all the other boats that helped are not official and it belongs to other people around the island.
