The General Secretariatfor the Council of Ministers confirmed on Monday that Transportation Ministry was granted exemptions and powers to sign contracts for port of Faw project; including inviting Daewoo Engineering and Construction Company of South Korea (in a sole offer) and contracting with them for the implementation of part or all of the infrastructure works of the port project.
The General Secretariat said (in a statement received by Ina on Monday) that… “Contracts with the company shall be within available financial allocations, according to the exceptions set forth in the minutes of the ‘Central Audit Committee and the approval of referral’, attached to the relevant M.o.T. letter; adopting the requirements of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) to implement the infrastructure of the project, in exception from the instructions to implement government contracts No. 2 of 2014 and its regulations, and instructions for the implementation of the federal budget. The decision includes authorizing the Minister of Transport to sign contracts with the company; under the supervision of Italian Consulting Company Technetal, plus authorizing him the powers of Fundamental payment of fees”.
