Abdul Mahdi meets Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghji

     Prime minister stressed Iraq’s readiness to build common area similar to the industrial zone with Jordan.

    Abdul Mahdi received deputy Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghji with his a companion delegation, Iranian ambassador to Iraq and a number of officials preparation for the visit of the Iranian president expected to Iraq. Prime minister media office said.

    The meeting included discussing the development of relations between the two countries and expanding cooperation in economic, trade, water issues, borders and entry visas, and the common desire to reach a clear memorandum of understanding that will achieve the common interests of the two countries in a fair manner, according to the statement.

    Abdul Mahdi welcomed with developing Iraqi-Iranian relations, expressed his hope that the meetings and mutual visits will lead to improving in bilateral relations and the resolution of outstanding issues, foremost of which is the preservation of Iraq's rights in its territorial waters and the hard work to achieve the Iraqi-Iranian relations. The interests of the two countries and the two neighboring peoples in all areas, "stressing" Iraq's readiness to build a common area along the lines of the Iraqi-Jordanian industrial zone.
