Minister of Culture and Tourism Abdel-Amir Al-Hamdani on Thursday praised the efforts of the French missions in excavations and preservation of antiquities.
Al-Hamdani, during his meeting with the French ambassador in Iraq Bruno Ober and his accompanying delegation, expressed readiness of the ministry to provide facilities for the work of the French prospectors in Iraq.
The minister added that the culture sector in Iraq is one of the vital sectors and the French will have a great role in it.
He added that "there is an intention to participate in Paris Book Fair, and that he will go to Paris soon accompanied by the President of the Republic to activate some conventions on the field of culture, tourism and archeology.
For his part, the French delegation expressed on admiration for the efforts exerted by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities to revive life to tourist areas and to preserve archaeological artifacts and communicate with the world in this regard through activating some agreements and new initiatives.
The French delegation presented a series of projects that France intends to implement in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture.
The government delegation arrived in Nasiriyah on Friday to follow up the work at Dhi Qar power station.
Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali al-Hakim met with Jan Kland, Secretary-General of the Norwegian Refugee Council.
