President of the House of Representatives Mohammed Al Halbusi received on Thursday US Ambassador to Baghdad Douglas Silliman on the occasion of the end of his duties in Iraq.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Speaker of the House of Representatives thanked the efforts made by Silliman to develop and strengthen relations between Baghdad and Washington, expressing his hope for success in his new duties.
He also stressed the importance of developing cooperation with Washington, praising the American security and economic support, calling for more joint cooperation in all fields, thus contributing to the development and stability of Iraq and the region in general.
For his part, Silliman stressed the deep ties of friendship between the two countries, indicating his country's keenness to continue supporting the democratic experience in Iraq and the commitment to stand by him in the face of economic and security challenges.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to increase electricity production and stability during the coming summer and to fulfill the ministry's commitments to improve the electrical system.
