President Barham Salih asserted that Iraqis have made a glorious victory over terrorism thanks to their unity and sacrifices.
This came during his meeting with the Governor, Chairman and members of the Diwaniya Governorate Council, and a number of the city's dignitaries at the presidential office in Baghdad on Monday.
“The next stage and what we witness today of current political events and international developments in the region call for strengthening national unity and unifying ranks, and strengthening the social fabric among our people to face these challenges,” said Salih.
He also explained that the terrorist forces represented by Daesh tried to sow discord between all components, but the vigilance and determination of the people on their synergy and national unity have thwarted these schemes.
President Salih stressed the importance of exerting utmost efforts to provide the best services to citizens and provide the most basic elements of decent living for them, calling to develop plans to improve the advancement of agricultural reality, support farmers and the payment of all their dues, and securing financial allocations for the rehabilitation of the city's infrastructure, find ways to promote sustainable development programs and provide jobs for the sons of Diwaniyah.
During the meeting, the President referred to the historic and civilized status of the city of Diwaniyah, praising the sacrifices of the city's sons in defending the country as well as the rest of the people of the provinces.
After the President listened to the presentation of the members of the delegation on many of the economic, service and agricultural issues suffered by the people of Diwaniyah, he stressed that the Presidency of the Republic supports finding solutions to their legitimate demands and achieve their aspirations in a free and dignified life, pointing out that democracy is important but should not extend to the obstruction of the state.
For their part, the members of the visiting delegation presented an explanation for the most important projects needed by the city to secure and provide the necessary services, expressing their thanks and appreciation to the President of the Republic for his interest and valuable guidance in the interest of the province.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to increase electricity production and stability during the coming summer and to fulfill the ministry's commitments to improve the electrical system.
